Assassin's Creed Shadows Promises a Streamlined Adventure in Feudal Japan

Assassin's Creed Shadows is set to offer a more manageable open world. For those who found the massive world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla a bit too overwhelming, the new entry should be more to their liking.

In a conversation with VGC, Ubisoft Quebec’s associate game director, Simon Lemay Comtois, explained that the game’s world will be considerably smaller than its predecessor. He mentioned that its size is comparable to Origins but smaller than Valhalla.

He elaborated on the kind of terrain players will navigate, noting the game’s Japanese setting. According to him, the geography includes small mountains and valleys, with most of the intriguing locations found in the valleys.

The game’s map will cover only a modest portion of Japan. The director stated that the story primarily focuses on central Japan, which helped define the area they aimed to include.

Key events take place in areas like Kyoto, Osaka, and Azuchi. The team considered the necessary space between these main locations to ensure the journey feels adventurous and credible.

Observations from a recent exclusive preview event highlighted that Feudal Japan is an ideal setting for an Assassin’s Creed game. The expected launch date is the 15th of November, and it will be accessible on platforms such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and also on the Personal Computer.
