Steam Users Stand by Mid-Range GPUs Amid New High-End Launches
May-05-2025

This report explores the current trends in graphics card usage among Steam users, examining the choices made despite the frequent buzz accompanying new releases from major brands. Many gamers experience a surge in performance when the latest cards arrive, yet only a small number rush to upgrade immediately.
The findings from a recent hardware survey by Valve indicate that there has been little change over the past month. Even with regular product launches, it appears that a significant portion of the community remains content with their existing systems rather than investing in new gear.
A closer look reveals that 4.94% of respondents continue to rely on a mid-range GPU. When considering the extensive array of available graphics cards, this particular model emerges as the most frequently used among Steam users.
It is notable that fewer individuals are turning to the top-tier options, as the cost of high-end models has steadily risen. Within the top 10 graphics cards reported in the survey, only three models from the newest series made the list, namely:
- Model 4060
- Laptop version of 4060
- Model 4060 Ti
Moreover, the data shows that the largest segment of users (35.42%) still benefits from a card offering 8GB of VRAM. Although these models have been available for nearly five years, their enduring popularity suggests that even with the appeal of the latest technology advances, many in the community are not yet persuaded to transition to newer, more expensive options.
